OSKALOOSA —
The Mahaska County Sheriff's Department says five people were arrested as part of an ongoing drug investigation.
Warren Frits, 47, and Bobbie Frits, 43, both of Oskaloosa, and Brent Smith, 39, New Sharon, are charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Norman Walker, 48, West Chester, is charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute. David Sanders, 59, Barnes City, is charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, manufacture of marijuana and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
All five were arrested following the execution of three warrants on July 3. The searches found a meth lab, precursors to methamphetamine and more than five grams of the drug itself. Marijuana plants, four vehicles and cash were also seized.
The investigation involved the sheriff's department, Oskaloosa Police Department, Mahaska County Drug Task Force, Southeast Iowa Drug Task Force, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Iowa State Patrol.
