Arterburn murder trial delayed

OSKALOOSA — The trial of an Oskaloosa man accused of using an ax to commit a murder has been pushed back one week.

Bradley Arterburn, 27, is charged with first degree murder. He had been set for a mid-September trial, but a new order pushes the trial date back to September 25.

Arterburn is accused of killing Robert Horovitz, 58, of Davenport in June 2011. He allegedly used a battle ax in the attack. The defense has sought psychological examinations of Arterburn, suggesting they may raise questions about his mental state at the time of Horovitz's death.

Arterburn was originally scheduled for trial in 2011, but a series of delays have moved back the case several times.
