PELLA —
After many years of speculation and waiting, it is official: Culver's, its butterburgers and frozen custard are coming to Pella. The location of the new addition to Pella will be located at 1512 Washington Ave.
The Pella Culver's will be owned by Tim and Sherri Te Grootenhuis.
"I believe in the core values of Culver's," Tim said during the groundbreaking ceremony. "We are excited to work with the community, Chamber and the City of Pella. The has been a great experience and it all started with a dream."
Tim, who has spent the last eight weeks training in Wisconsin at the Culver's Headquarters, commented that the community will see work starting on the new location within the next week or so.
"This is a great day," Karen Eischen, Executive Director, Pella Chamber of Commerce said. "We have found something Pella wants and needs. Surrounding communities have even been asking about when Culver's will be coming to town. It's something they are looking for too."
"We wish them well," Pella Mayor Pro-Tem Mark De Jong said. "This is a great thing for the community."
Craig Culver, CEO of Culver's, which started in 1984, was also present for the groundbreaking. There are now more than 450 Culver's across the country.
"I have worked with Tim a little (during his training) and he understands what hospitality is all about," Culver said. "He likes to put smiles on other people's faces. Culver's wants to be part of the community."
