Two Appanoose County men in unrelated cases are facing attempted murder charges.
The first case involves a verbal death threat against two individuals and a physical confrontation where the male victim after being choked said things "went fuzzy."
According to the criminal complaint filed by Centerville police officer Brandon Knapp, Kenneth Edward Kramer, 39, of Centerville, on July 17 at approximately 9:45 p.m. went to the residence where his brother Christopher Duffield, mother Debra Nail and step-father William Nail live. Once there, he allegedly assaulted his mother, said he was going to kill his brother and then attempted to kill his brother.
The criminal complaint states Kramer while at the house allegedly assaulted his mother several times by striking her in the chest, face, arms, legs and buttocks. He allegedly attacked his brother and at one point wrapped an arm around his neck in a choke hold, both fell to the floor still in the hold, and then Kramer said, "Good night little brother," while still applying the hold. Later the victim said things "Went fuzzy.”
Kramer allegedly told his mother if she reported what had happened to the police he was going to "Take her out with him." Kramer allegedly also said Debra and Christopher "'Needed to die.'"
The complaint states Debra, Christopher and William now are fear of what Kramer might do.
The complaint says Kramer went to there because he was upset his brother allegedly had given out a key to his residence and allegedly items had come up missing.
Kramer's bond is $50,000 and he has a preliminary hearing Aug. 1.
Kramer by criminal complaint is facing one count of attempted murder, a class B felony, two counts of willful injury, class D felony and two counts of first degree harassment, aggravated misdemeanor.
The second case involves alleged verbal death threats against three individuals and a physical confrontation in which the victim said she thought she was going to die.
According to the criminal complaint filed June 18 by Appanoose County Sheriff's deputy Dennis Daniels, Theodore Johnathan Reger, 28, of Plano, on June 16 at approximately 4:47 a.m. grabbed the throat of Roxanne Reger, his mother, began squeezing and told her he was going to kill her.
Reger's sister, Wanda Reger, intervened at which time the defendant grabbed her arm, caused a scratch and he threatened to kill her.
A third person who lives at the Plano residence where this incident took, Reger's uncle, Fred Fett, was also threatened with his life by the defendant.
The mother said if her daughter hadn't intervened, "he would have killed her as he has threatened to do so in the past," states the criminal complaint.
A no contact order protecting the mother, sister and uncle was issued against Reger.
Reger was released from the Appanoose County Jail July 10 and ordered to report to the Department of Correctional Services for supervised pretrial release.
Reger by trial information is facing one count of attempted murder, a class B felony, two counts of first degree harassment, aggravated misdemeanors and one count of domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Reger's arraignment is set for Aug. 21 at 9:30 a.m. in the Appanoose County Courthouse.
