KNOXVILLE — One driver taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle accident.
Details are limited at this time. Iowa State Patrolman Wade Major is still investigating the accident, which involved a black Ford Focus and a white Ford truck.
The Focus was traveling southbound on Highway 5 and the truck northbound when the two collided approximately four miles south of Knoxville. There was only one occupant per vehicle. The driver of the Focus was taken to the hospital, while the driver of the truck refused treatment. Their names were unavailable.
The vehicles ended up several feet apart on the east side of the road. The truck lost a tire in the accident and landed on its roof. The cause of the accident is unknown.
Responding agencies included the Knoxville Rural Fire Department, Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Fire/Rescue, Marion County Emergency Management, Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
