Pella’s Troop 373 receives highest award

PELLA — Pella’s Boy Scout Troop 373 has received the highest (gold) award in Scouting’s Journey to Excellence performance recognition program. Points are awarded for better-than-average performance in advancement, involvement in short-term and long-term camping, youth leadership, community service, recruiting new Scouts, helping Cub Scouts to make the transition into the Boy Scout program, fiscal integrity, recognition of achievement, and more.

Scoutmaster David Yeager pointed to a number of the Troop’s outstanding programs. These include year-round short-term camping, week-long camping at 700-acre Camp Mitigwa near Woodward, Iowa, and an annual high adventure trip. These high adventures trips include canoe trips to Minnesota’s Boundary Waters, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, and hiking the Lake Superior Trail.
