Power crews plan tree trimming starting next week <font color="black"size=”-1”>1:30 p.m.

OTTUMWA — Alliant Energy is sending crews to Wapello County beginning next week to trim trees in an attempt to prevent storm-related outages this spring and summer.

The company says it will trim back limbs that could threaten pole-to-pole power lines during storms. The goal is to minimize the risk of power outages as the state’s severe weather season gears up in the coming weeks.

Residents in Ottumwa, Eddyville, Chillicothe, and Hedrick can expect crews to trim trees or limbs that are under or within 10 feet of lines. The crews will chip and remove the limbs.

People with questions can call the company’s customer service center at 1-800-ALLIANT.
